ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have had severe peripheral neuropathy
(Numbness and severe pain in arms and legs)
Progressively worsening over 8 years.
My first diagnosis was " You're overweight and getting old." I lost over 120 lbs., through change of diet and exercise, with no relief and symptoms worsened.
Second diagnosis was a B12 deficiency and low testosterone. After several months of injections, my symptoms continued to worsen.
Then, diagnosed with carpal tunnel
. Surgery on both hands. With no relief.
Lastly, in April I was misdiagnosed with ALS.
After waiting over two months, my second opinion ruled out ALS but has hit a "Dead End" in my diagnosis.
Years of tests, bloodwork, and 5 doctors, the cause of my neuropathy is still unknown.
I have been va police detective for 25 years. I barely passed my recertifications because of the pain and weakness in my hands.
