Unexplained weight fluctuations and long term hip injury related pain with no detectable damage.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Starting 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. 4 years ago I experienced a warehouse equipment impact right hip injury that still causes me great pain in my lower right back and hip, sometimes traveling down to my ankle. I walk with a cane now, because it helps me walk further with less pain and also because I lose my balance/fall upwards of 20x a day. Luckily I can catch myself before I hit the ground 9x out of 10. I have had xrays, cat scans and MRIs with and with out contrast, none of which show anything out of the ordinary. I also gained 100lbs rapidly after the injury.
A year later, I started experiencing frequent diarrhea, sometimes consisting of the food I ate abt 20 min beforehand, undigested and visibly identifiable. I have frequent stomach aches, a burning sensation under my belly button and nausea with occasional vomiting at night. On top of that I have periods where I feel no hunger for 36 hrs or more, often having to force feed myself so I dont get sicker later. Sometimes I'm starving but everything I eat either tastes rancid or like wet cardboard. During this time I rapidly lose weight, up to 50lbs. When my body decides to accept food again, I end up binge eating and gaining the weight back rapidly. I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy and a barium contrast scan, all came back normal. Sometimes I am afraid I will die of starvation, despite trying to stay hydrated and taking vitamin supplements, at 300lbs.
