- CASE FILE
I have been suffering with piriformis syndrome for 16 years and fibromyalga for 25 years. I have now been confined to my bed for 11 months.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have had 5 MRIs to find the pain in my left buttock down to my foot. MRIs are clean. There is no impingement on sciatic nerve. The pain is unbearable. I call it suicide level pain. I can't walk distances, can't sit, can't drive or lie down without excruciating pain. Barely sleep or eat. No friends. I cry all the time, sometimes screaming out in pain. I have tried EVERY treatment to no avail, acupuncture, PT, massage, traction, trigger point injections and opiates, which helped, but didn't relieve all the pain. It's always there. I have seen an orthopedist, orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, neurosurgeon who all said they couldn't help me. I had just put myself through school, got my Bachelor's degree and became a court reporter. After only two years into my career, I had to quit because of the pain. I was so talented. Only one percent of court reporting students succeed, and I did with straight As, Dean's list, Director's list awards. I live at the beach and can't walk on the beach, only stare at it from my window. I'm only 59. Add to that my fibromyalgia which is like having a body bruise. My cats step on me and it's like being stabbed with a knife. I'm BEGGING for help because I want my life back. I have rescued animals all my life. I would like to continue that work on some level. I want to get a dog, walk on the beach, go hiking, travel. I WANT A NORMAL, PAIN-FREE LIFE . I don't think that's too much to ask.
