uncontrolled microscopic collagenous colitis. total colectomy done. hospitalized with kidney failure due to dehyration.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
diagnosed 25 yrs ago with microscopic collagenous colitis. all medications tried proved ineffective. had a total collectomy in 2001 with "J" pouch. it has failed. the diarrhea is cronic and cramping severe. currently i am just doing maintainence doses of opium and lomotil. i was hospitalized last july with acute dehydration and total kidney failure. had a potassium level of 8, which is critical. currrently i have it stationary at 4.7.
my doctor has , in her words, "run out of bullets". i am willing to try anything at this point. my anal sphincter has failed, even after three surgeries to repair it.
that's where i'm at right now. any help will be appreciated
