We have been battling Hirschsprung's Disease for 25+ years with severe intestinal and surgical life or death complications and no known cure
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Medical conditions and symptoms associated with Hirschsprungs include the inability to pass stool due to dead nerve endings in the bowel. This has caused Nathan Wyatt to throw up stool and bile, become excessively susceptible to C-difficile to where he cannot take antibiotics without extensive treatments. Nathan has also had over 46 abdominal surgeries to try to cure the disease to no avail. Nathan has worn 3 different ostomy bags, and has a permanent seton drainage tube implanted into his intestine and anus in order to prevent and drain chronic abcesses out of his anal fissures. His abdominal wall is so weak, he has developed several hernias from surgery that despite surgery, will not go away. Hirschsprung's causes the person to retain so much stool that their stomach will severely swell and be rock hard from impacted fecal matter. Hirschsprung's has caused Nathan to develop ulcers and spit blood in the past. Nathan has had to have several NG tube placements in order to extract stool from his body and has been placed in an induced coma once. Had to receive barium enemas and at home enemas in order to release stool, because he physically couldn't on his own. Nathan is on a permanent laxative regement. Nathan has had pull through surgeries and had to have a rod inserted and removed in order to open and close the rectum. Nathan has also had a full prolapse of his mucus stoma due to intense swelling of the stoma. Nathan has been battling Hirschprung's for over 25 years with many hospital and ICU stays. Not many doctors have knowledge to what hirschprungs is which makes treatment very difficult and life threatening, for everything is experiment. Hirschsprung's has no cure that we know of.
