- CASE FILE
I have Epilepsy. Grand Mals. I've done all the tests, and the doctors still don't know my triggers: I'm begging for independence.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Every 4-6 months, I have 2-3 Grand Mal seizures within 1 week of each other, for at least 2 minutes each. I had my first seizure when I was 15, at an overnight soccer camp, and my parents took me directly to Mayo Clinic. Nothing typical triggered my seizures, and the doctor's had no explanation as to why my body reacted that way. For a few years, they went away, but as I went through college and a drinking phase, the seizures became more frequent, and it was affecting my brain power; it was concluded as Epilepsy, but not one doctor could tell me why, or how, or control the seizures with medication. I'm without independence - unable to go anywhere, go on a walk, or even take a shower without anyone know. I am a prisoner of my medical condition.
