ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Started having severe pain in my upper and middle back around age 19. I was told it was due to my leg discrepancy as my left leg was close to an inch shorter than my right. As the years went by more symptoms would emerge. In my late 20s I was told I had degenerative disc disease and RSD in my left foot (since my left foot would literally turn to a different color than my right). I was diagnosed with IBS, since the gastroenterologist couldn’t figure out why I was having a tingling sensation and then a rash on my left collar bone, prior to the onset of IBS. This rash would only appear right before my ibs symptoms hit, and then dissipate once it was over. I was also diagnosed w fibromyalgia, which I believe was just bc they couldn’t figure out what was going on.
I am a mother of 6 kids, and during each of those pregnancies my sacral bone would fracture. Apparently it was due to a “stress fracture” since my uterus is tilted towards the back. This was just one doctors theory as no one knew why it continued to happen.
In my 30s my hearing in my left ear declined and I lost the ability to see color in my left eye. The specialist tested me for MS, however the test was negative.
I am now 43, and my symptoms can be debilitating at times. There are days I am physically unable to get out of bed, which might I add can’t happen as I am a mother of 6 and that comes with a ton of responsibilities. Lately I have been struggling w additional symptoms. My left ankle and foot swell on and off, I have a strange rash that appears all over my neck and sometimes face, I can’t open my left hand at times, I battle serious issues with pain in my back neck and leg all on my left side. I can’t lay flat on my back as the pain radiates through my left side of my body, I walk with a limp many days bc of my left leg, everyday when I wake up in the am, it’s a good 30 minutes before I am able to physically walk bc pain is so bad. It’s as if I physically have to retrain myself to walk. I recently used the restroom in the middle of the night, and upon standing my left leg gave out completely causing me to fall and break my nose, I have to take miralax 2 times a day to help with my ibs w constipation and if I don’t, my stomach becomes so distended I look pregnant. I am allergic to aspirin and nsaids, so I am very limited on what I am actually able to take to treat my symptoms.
I have had many surgeries (anything from multiple sinus surgeries to 2 umbilical hernia repairs) and after each one I always battle oddball infections, typically having to seek help from an infection disease doctor.
Upon having my 4th child, he was diagnosed with AML at 8 months old. Since we needed a bone marrow transplant for him, and none of my children were a match, we sought out my biological family as I am adopted. Come to find out, lupus runs in my family. I have one sister with lupus and another who battled scleroderma.
I have seen a cardiologist and a specialist within the cardiologist office who deal with “electrical issues of the heart”. Apparently I have some “misfiring” issues causing extreme palpitations at times, which in turn cause anxiety bc it’s down right scary, and followed by sweating and a racing heart.
I would give anything to be the Mom and wife I know I can be....I just need the answers to solve my medical nightmare!
