I have severe testicular pain following double knee replacement surgery. It comes on at 6PM daily like clockwork.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I had double knee replacement six weeks ago. The result has been highly successful, except for persistent testicular and groin pain that is achy during the day, but becomes severe at 5:30/6:00 every evening. It's so bad that I had to take Tramadol that I had been using for my knee pain to get through the evening. Went to a Urologist two and a half weeks ago when the pain first started getting severe.. All tests were negative. I used a catheter for an entire weekend to make sure my bladder was emptying properly. It was. Tried a course of antibiotics which did nothing to alleviate the condition. Went to my Primary Care Physician and after much consideration he thought it might be caused by the epidural I had in my spine for the first three days after my surgery... that my spinal cord might be swollen. He put me on a course of Prednisone. The first two days: no pain at 6:00PM. Then the third day, as I was tapering off the prednisone, the pain came back. Went to see my knee surgeon about the neuropathy I had been feeling in my ankles and feet since the surgery. He thought that it might be related to the possible stenosis in my spine. (I have also had low back soreness and pain, although not severe, during this whole process.) My (renowned) surgeon also said that it might all be a reaction to the anesthetics leaving my body. I then went back to my Primary Care Physician and he put me on another course of Prednisone and two Mobic daily in hopes that we could bring down the swelling in my spine, but that he would order an MRI if that didn't work.. The Prednisone and Mobic combo worked for three days this time, but the pain and soreness came back last night and my testicles are sore this morning. I see that doctor again tomorrow.
