Conflicting DiagnosesReceived many conflicting diagnoses and done trial and error treatment plans with no success. No doctor collaboration
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Sarcoidosis, and fibromyalgia.
I have seen 5 rheumatologist and spent a week at Mayo Clinic trying to get a confirmed diagnosis but instead I have gotten a different diagnosis from each doctor and surprisingly very little collaboration among doctors to discuss my case. I wonder if I might have several conditions going on but no one has suggested that. I have undergone so much imaging and testing and seen so many specialists. Worst of all I’ve tried so many treatment plans many of which have harsh side effects all in the hopes of having a light bulb moment where something provides relief but no such luck.
As a result I live a very isolated life and spend most of my time at home alone because everything feels too difficult to manage. I’m only 38 years old and have so much I want to do in life and would be so grateful for a more certain diagnosis that could hopefully lead to an effective treatment plan.
Here is a more detailed description of my symptoms:
Aches and stiffness all over, worse in the morning
Localized pain in different muscles and joints - changes depending on activity
Ex. Carrying several grocery bags usually causes pain and swelling in my elbows for a few days
High inflammation and frequent swelling of joints and muscles
Heavy bloating and digestive discomfort after eating - have worked with a nutritionist and found no sensitivities or allergies
Consistent fatigue and lack of energy
Frequent headaches, some migraines
Ear pain and frequent infections
Trouble falling asleep and staying asleep
Frequent hot flashes and night sweats
Generally feel like I’m in the body of a 90 year old with limited mobility and energy
