- CASE FILE
Numbness in right hand and have loss some use of this hand.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
For the past 2 years I have had limited use of my right hand due to numbness. I had an EMG that pointed to 3 possibilities: neck issue, elbow issue or hand issue. Nothing extremely notable. I finally was approved to have a MRI performed and it showed a herniated disk in my neck. I had surgery for that, but only a slight notice of improvement. I had to go on STD because I used my hands for my job (former tailor). During a follow up appointment and another MRI, my doctor told me that he thought I may have MS. It was going to be 6 months before I could see a neurologist but before I could go to that appointment, I developed a terrible case of double vision and spent a week in the hospital. The double vision went away, but the numbness in my hand is still there. Two MRI's later, and it still shows some signs of MS, but my neurologist isn't convinced because of my age. I am a 50 year old female and until 2 years ago and been relatively healthy. I constantly feel like and have several pair of gloves on my right hand and it is so irritating. I haven't been able to work for 2 years and I am really getting frustrated not having a correct diagnosis. My neurologist has suggested a mild MS medication, but if this isn't what this is, I am really unsure of taking this medication.
