43 y/o female with unexplained random blackouts happening over past 5-7 years
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I've been having blackouts at seemingly random times for approximately 5-7 years now. At first there weren't many, and I didn't think I'd done more than just kind of "wake up" somewhere and not know how I got there. Over the past 3-4 years they've become more frequent, and I'd been either walking or driving when I "woke up". I've ended up with some legal problems because of it, as well as doing damage to a vehicle and other's property.
I've also hallucinated talking to people I know on multiple occasions. I only know because I've said things to the people I thought I'd talked to, just to have them tell me that we hadn't talked that day, or didn't have the conversation I was talking about.
I've talked with both my neurologist and multiple psychologists about these things over the years. I've gone through multiple tests such as MRIs and various scans; been taken off medications and put on others; and have had multiple sleep studies (the blackouts seem to happen more at night). My neurologist thinks that it is psychological, there's been multiple thoughts ranging from PTSD by psychologists, to schizophrenia from psychiatrists. The only thing any of the doctors have in common is that no one is sure what's going on.
All I know for certain is that this is impacting my life in a severely negative way.
Other medical conditions are insomnia, and the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome.
