ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I’m now 18 years old, but have been suffering since I was 16. What started out as a very bad, hacking cough that lasted about 2 weeks seems to have morphed into something much worse and very strange. Even though the hacking cough disappeared, I developed 3 major problems:
1) Severe and constant "burning" in my chest
2) Severe and constant "pressure" in my chest
3) Extreme and constant fatigue and muscle weakness
I am no longer able to do ANYTHING I loved to do before: walking, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc. I can no longer stand up for very long, and cannot walk very far anymore (maybe a few hundred feet each day). I have to use a wheelchair whenever I leave my home, and cannot even drive much anymore (too tiring on my arms and legs).
I have tried changing my diet many ways (no sugar, no wheat, no dairy, no corn, eating inflammation-fighting food only), taking multivitamins, and using essential oils, but nothing has helped. Drinking coffee gives me some very temporary relief, and taking very HOT, steamy showers reduces or eliminates the burning in my chest for about 30 minutes. But I haven't found anything else that helps at all.
I’ve gone through 3 rounds of doctors and specialists (cardiologists, pulmonologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, hematologists, etc.), had multiple scans (XRay, ultrasound, MRI, CT, etc.), and run DOZENS of labs, etc., and nobody knows what the problem is. All labs report "normal" ranges of everything, yet I cannot function normally. All doctors have said "Well, I see nothing wrong. Just give it some time and it will probably go away on its own." 2 YEARS IS LONG ENOUGH!
