Leg swelling, Rash and Neuropathy
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Female 49 symptoms started 01/2018 was sick with cold that took me down for 3 days, on the third day, when getting out of bed, ankle, toes, calves were severe swollen and pay with a rash covered from feet to knees, nothing above the knees, Er visits, Jan prescribed steroid, did not work, Feb 2018 same thing, went to family physician, where weight gain of 6-7 pounds in less than week, Doctor was concerned, with the swelling and severe edema, scratched head and said i do not know what is wrong with you so Referred to Cardiologist due to this swelling was alarm and the rash was bizarre, Cardiologist did his test, along with Family Doctor did all the blood test, No heart issues (ruled out number one), Family doctor Referral #2 Rheumatoid who looked at me with puzzling over what is going on? ran her test, x-ray of ankles, swelling is only from below knee down, Rheumatoid after several months of exploring said this is not rheumatoid related (ruled out number 2), Rheumatoid doctor sent me to Hematologist/Oncologist, thinking blood related, this doctor ran his blood work, Nothing blood related (ruled out Number 3) Hematologist/Oncologist sent me back to my Family Physician Family Physician at this point Rash at least once a month, swelling, burning, numbness in feet, family doctor sent me to Vascular Specialist, where I went through more blood work, Ultrasound of legs, some vascular insufficiency, but no reasoning how this happened or why?, so due to the numbness only in toes and feet , ankle and below, Vascular sent me to Neurologist this doctor preformed EMG, where he says yes you have Neuropathy but no reasoning behind this what caused all of this? With the scratchy of head Neurologist said i want to refer you to another Neurologist in a bigger hospital, this new doctor did Lyme disease test and scheduled a new emg of nerves and muscles and found yes you have Neurologist, however the first Neuro doctor wanted the referrel to decide whether or not to do a nerve biopsy, but second Neuro was so rude and vague, when calling me for the results, the secretary on phone goes, well nerve biopsy or Dermatologist? My response was are you asking me which one i want? well it was unclear for her, she had to call me back, so made new appointment with the original Neuro doctor, where he was very disappointed in the level of care i received, that i drover 1 1/2 hr to get to. so referred to dermatologist when the rash flares up to get biopsy. Here at this time we have made into June 2019, where i have had lymphodema pumps, don't work, a ring of 8 different doctors, counting ER Physicians and Family Physician. Vascualar ordered pelvic and leg MRI, new ultra sound, where they show some blocking in left illiac vein, minimal and some blockage in veins in legs, however he is puzzled how severe my legs look but no answers to what is causing it and what they are going to do, he then referred me to Pain Management doctor to see if we can get the nerve pain in feet under control, with no quality of life, lack of sleep because of the pain keeps me up and nothing eases this (NO Pain Prescriptions due to i refuse Narcotics and allergic to so many). Pain Management placed me on gabapentin and mild antidepressant that helps with pain to sleep at night, this worked maybe three days, Now excruciating pain, up all night hold my feet due to the nerve pain, can not put sandals on due to pain, no socks can't they burn my skin, feet and toes feel like someone is boiling me on fire. Finally 2019 had skin biopsy, revealed the rash is Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis, however she felt concerned, this is just the small issue, what is going on in this long lasted circle I have been enduring? so she is going to gather all my doctors records and sit down with colleagues to figure, Her response along with all the doctors i have been to state You are Medical Mystery! So now Vascular and Neurologist wanted to follow up after skin biopsy, this is to be scheduled. Dermatologist stated if she can not figure out, she wants to refer me to a specialist in a bigger Hospital about 1 hour away that deals in mystery cases. They have no idea what took a 49 year female down in 18 months. I went from running up to 5 miles every other day to, not being about to walk without breaking. Here we are 18 months, in no real answers to what is causing this? what is the real underlining issue that triggered this. As my physicians put it. What is the bigger picture? How are they going to solve this bigger picture? How much longer does one truly suffer? This is life altering no real reasong.
