ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I just want to know what I have and how to get better. In 2015, at the age of 15, I woke up one night with a fever and terrible pain in my knees and ankles. I could barely walk. I went to my pediatrician right away and after blood work showed ANA positivity, was sent to Rheumatology. The first Dr. said it was nothing, the next diagnosed me with LUPUS/Mixed Connective Tissue Disease/Raynaud's. I was put on Cellcept, Prednisone, Plaquenil , Voltaren and a few others. During this time, my pain was spreading. My stomach began to hurt and i suffer with Chronic constipation. I changed my diet, went to Physical Therapy, tried massage therapy, ice packs, heat packs, tens unit, salt soaks, CBD creams, hot tubs, braces to support my wrists ankles and knees; nothing helped. That Dr. could not figure out why I wasn't responding to the medications. At this point I could no longer attend High School and was being tutored at home. I was referred to another Rheumatologist, and another. I have seen Neurology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Immunology and Orthopedics. I have had imaging done on every part of my body, blood, urine, endoscopy and colonoscopy. I have been tested for Lyme disease and a few other tick born illnesses. I am exhausted all the time and cannot stand for more than a few minutes or my back hurts terribly. My Rheumatologist started me on Benlysta, I had terrible side effects. In November of 2018 I was once again referred to another Rheumatologist who told me I had none of the diseases and to stop taking all of my medications. At that time I was also now on Lyrica because they added Fibromyalgia to my list of diagnoses. Lyrica was terrible to come off of. I was devastated to hear that all of my efforts to get better were mute, because I didn't even have the right diagnosis. I went this month to a new Dr. for a second opinion and he agreed that he did not feel I had LUPUS or any Auto Immune Disease, and he gave me yet again another referral to another doctor. He is suggesting I may have a condition called Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome. I just want to go back to school and lead a normal life. I have missed out on High School, a first job and learning to drive. I used to hike and loved the outdoors. I now have a little brother , who is a year old and want nothing more than to be able to play with him and the big brother I know I can be.
