I don't want to live in constant pain for the rest of my life, 19 years has been long enough. The pain started right after the birth of my second child. It would come and go over the years for brief periods of time but has been a constant everyday pain for the past 4 years or so. Up til the diagnosis, I had gone to the several doctors I was told by one that I have no Xiphoid, another one said I have a mitral valve prolapse and my gall bladder has been removed. I honestly feel that this could be something more than what the diagnosis is (costochondritis-inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone). The chronic pain in my chest feels like an elephant sitting on my chest, the stomach pain feels much like I have been hit across the stomach with a bat and is unbearable at times. All I want to do is sleep in order for the pain to stop (only to wake up to face it all over again). The pain sometimes radiates into my shoulders. I have tried a number of remedies but none have help to reduce the pain. Steroids, low dose anti-depressant for the pain, supplements, stretches, yoga, Chiropractor, Backpod, you name it, I have tried it or willing to try it. Eating/drinking makes it worse (the Dr. states because my stomach is pushing up on my inflamed rib cage). My energy is often zapped and all I want to do is lie down and do nothing which bothers me because I am a very active person.
