ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I’m seeking help because it’s been almost 2 years having a spontaneous anterior cerebral spinal fluid leak . I remember like it was yesterday, well actually the day was Thursday, October 12, 2017 and It’s been torturous since then! Severe headaches/pressure, neck and shoulder blade/scapula pain/pressure, nausea, extreme exhaustion, weight gain, dizziness, blurred vision, cognitive issues, only can sleep maybe 2-3 hours per night-insomnia, auditory issues-hearing going in/out & pressure in ears, constantly must lay flat to try to relieve, but really no relief. Depression and anxiety. Had 2 major surgeries, neither successful. It’s rare because it’s anterior. I’ve been to the top leading Ivy League hospital/Doctors for this from the beginning, since October 2017. I lost my job, & it was a good job! My life within a “light-switch” changed overnight. I don’t look like myself, feel myself, I just need my life back. It really has changed everything, and not for the better. So you could imagine going from fully functional to completely non-functional-so that’s when the depression & anxiety had definitely made itself at home. The medical society is baffled by how and why it happened-it’s a mystery to them also. There are no medications to take per say to “fix” but I’ve had several blood patches in 2018 before any major surgeries, and they did absolutely nothing-didn’t take. Due to the major surgeries both in 2019- March 5 & May 21, I am taking Oxycodone, Flexaril, and several other medications for this. The last surgery in May caused me to loose feeling /numbness in my left arm/hand/fingers, also my right arm/hand/fingers but not as severe. Also my left leg and right leg was like having “sea legs”. I couldn’t walk for at least 2 weeks without a walker. Still have left leg “sea legs” and the numbness. Both surgeries I was in the hospital each time for a week in severe pain and was given several different pain medications. Also I have MS(found out in 2018) which has gotten worse since the anterior/spontaneous csf leak has begun. Several MRI’s w/wo contrast dye, several CT mylograph. My neurosurgeon has said to me on my first visit with him, “this is a rare and complicated condition” You could only imagine hearing those words.
Other medical conditions: lymphedema in both legs from a plastic surgery to remove skin-malpractice. PCOS, Hypothyroidism,
