- CASE FILE
I don't know what is wrong with me. I am being treated for Stiff Person Syndrome. It is often misdiagnosed. I am uncertain of my diagnosis.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
My muscles contract to the point that I have muscle spasms. The nerves go dead and I lose sensation. This causes me to lose the ability to control my limbs, digits included. It has gotten so bad that I have had one hand go dead to the point that I could not move my hand. The doctors would move the digits when I could not. Typing is difficult, sometimes I have to set my phone down and put it on speaker to talk because I cannot hold my phone in my hands. When this hit me I lost my job and housing. I wound up on the streets of San Diego, eventually, I made it into a homeless shelter. Until I made it into a homeless shelter. My reality was that I would sleep with my wheelchair against buildings and hope that someone did not take it during the night while I was asleep. Currently, I am luckily on disability, so I am no longer homeless at this time. I am able to stand and walk short distances, 15 minutes of standing and less than a half of a mile of walking. It hurts to type. My muscles are constantly sore. I get pain in my knees when I try to be active. This causes me to avoid having to stand or walk. I have a high tolerance for pain and suffer every day. I just want to be functional and active again.
