- CASE FILE
I have a red, itchy rash all over my body while pregnant.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I'm writing on behalf of our PUPPP Support Group on FB that has 810 members and is growing. Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy, otherwise known as PUPPS or PUPPPS, in a condition that affects thousands of pregnant women. Because women are pregnant and the condition doesn't affect the fetus, many doctors will not treat this painful and unbearable condition and constantly misdiagnose women with this painful condition. Currently, there is no research being conducted on PUPPS and women are often told that symptoms will subside once the baby is delivered. This is simply NOT TRUE. In addition, women are told it is only with their first child and if it's a boy. Again, THIS IS NOT TRUE and symptoms continue for many women post partum and subsequent deliveries. Women are also told that it only shows on their bellies. Many women have this painful rash from head to toe. Our support group is tracking symptoms and trying to get to the bottom of this condition that affects so many women during one of their most joyous times in their lives. There is no treatment plan for women regarding this terrible condition. We would like actual answers, instead of theories which is what the medical community is only offering.
