- CASE FILE
My son is in pain all the time and no one has an answer! He has had to quit his job and college due to chronic muscle and joint pain.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Chronic pain, weakness and spasms in muscles and joints since he was 9 or 10 years old. I was told it was "growing pains" by doctors for years. But it get alarmingly worse at about 19 years old and has basically incapacitated him. He has Tourette's Syndrome, ADHD and OCD, that have all been manageable for years, and it is felt these have no connection to the pain. He has had xrays, an MRI, tons of blood work, and EMG, and a surgical muscle biopsy. Have ruled out myopathy, rheumatoid arthritis. Addison's disease and fibromyalgia. Have tried numerous prescription medications with no improvement. He's 19 and just wants to live a normal life, get a job, and not be in pain! We have seen numerous doctors within our HMO group, and then were referred out of Network to the University of Chicago research hospital, but still got no answers. Out next step is to try and get approval to go to Mayo Clinic.
