Young adult male who has taken a medical leave of absence from college to spend the last year visiting doctors to determine cause of strange symptoms, seeking out experts in the specialties without any success in a diagnosis or treatment to help the symptoms.
Main symptoms are:
Constant urge to urinate - tried medications, seen many urologists, most were extremely dismissive due to age. Tried two sets of Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy which did not help. Finally after many tests went to doctor who put in Interstim (sacral nerve) implant in March. Helps some but does not alleviate problem.
Urinary problems cause inability to attend class, hold a job, go out with friends, etc. Causes HUGE problem in trying to sleep. Lays down to try to sleep, feels the need to go, gets up and tries to go, takes 5-30 minutes to go, then awake and cycle starts all over again. Only able to sleep every two to three days when totally exhausted.
Seen neurologist and had testing done to rule out MS. No lesions in brain or spine, no o-bands, BUT A HIGH WBC of 57 in the Cerbral Spinal Fluid!! This is too high for MS, but too low for a type of encephalitis.
Hand tremors in both hands, but primarily right hand (right handed) and it interferes with writing and eating or drinking.
Unusual muscle spasms of individual muscles that will last 5 minutes to up to three days!
Intolerance to mint, perfumes, scented candles and scented germ-X - causes complete shut down in cognitive abilities and causes difficulty in walking and talking, causes sweating on face, neck and arms.
Teeth are crumbling and vision gets blurry at times. Eyes have been checked and no issues with eyes,
Frustrating because doctors have ruled things out, but have not ruled anything IN.
Neurologist said it is a “Unnamed autoimmune disorder that is attacking the Autonomic Nervous System”
