ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In October of 2017, my mother went from being a normal functioning person to being fully wheelchair-bound, constant dizziness and tremors. Her symptoms are exactly like that of Parkinson's. We have brought her to neurologist and specialist alike and they could only label her with Ataxia. The issue is Ataxia is usually caused by another underlying disease or it is a neurological hereditary disease. We were able to get her help at the top research hospital in Tampa, Shands. The Mayo Clinic has also helped. She has had every test you can imagine from a spinal tap to MRI, bloodwork, you name it the research hospital made sure she had it. She has been tested for every disease you can think of from MS(all types), Stroke, Parkinson's, Meniere's disease, cancer, Alzheimer's (she is 60) and so on. All came back negative. This left medical experts stumped. They told us it was the first of its case they have seen. Today, my mother experiences tremors at times, she can deal with the tremors, and slurred speech. What she can't deal with is her extreme dizziness. That is the symptom that has everyone baffled. They have tried every medication on the market to stop but she lives with constant dizziness all day every day. No physical therapist or ENT, Specialist or Expert can stop it. She is extremely depressed because of it and our family is at a loss. We do not want to see the end of her life living like this. We need answers. We need someone who may know a test experts havent tried.
