- CASE FILE
Chronic pain in chest and upper stomach. Suffering for 19 years and the last 4 years have been overwhelming.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have dealt with this issue for far to long and really need/want answers. This issue started 19 years ago right after the birth of my daughter. The elephant sitting on my chest pain/pressure would come and go over the years but in the last 4 years, the pain has become chronic. I of course over these years I went to doctors to find what was wrong and NO one could tell me despite the numerous test taken. I have had my gall bladder removed, told that I have mitral valve prolaspe, told I have no xiphoid but no explanation as to what was going on in my body. Four years ago, I was finally told that I have costochrondritis. Now I am not sure if that is truly what is going on as the everyday chronic pain for years does not fit the profile of what I have read about this condition. The pain often radiates to my shoulders. My upper stomach hurts all the time as well and feels like I have been hit with a bat. My rib cage is often tender to the touch and forget about resting my arms across my stomach/chest, it's too much pressure. I am often zapped of energy and the constant pain makes me to tired to do anything. I sit very erect because any slight relaxing of my back causes more pressure. Eating/drinking makes it worse, was told by the doctor that is because my stomach is pushing up on my rib cage. Sleeping is a chore too. I have to sleep on my back (I used to be a side sleeper) because there is too much pressure on my chest if I sleep on my side like I am crushing my rib cage. I have tried a number of potential remedies in an effort to ease the pain; prescription steroids, low dose anti depressant (for chronic pain), arthritis meds, stretches, yoga, chiropractor, backpod. I have often felt anxieties because of the chronic pain that seems to have no end in sight. I am so hopeful that this platform may be the healing to my body, soul, mind.
