- CASE FILE
I've had an almost-constant UTI since Oct 2016. I've seen a dozen doctors & nobody has been able to provide anything more than temp relief.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was diagnosed with my first UTI in October 2016 (about 2 weeks before my 30th birthday). I was told that it was a very bad UTI. I was treated with antibiotics, but my bladder has not been normal since 2016. My main symptoms are bladder spasms, urinary incontinence, urgency, frequency, cloudy urine, blood in urine, potent urine and abdominal pain. I have seen urologists, urogynecologists, gynecologists, neurologists, rheumatologists and infectious disease doctors. I have been treated with oral antibiotics, IV antibiotics via a PICC line and antibiotics injected directly into the bladder via a catheter. At times, I have been relieved of some of my symptoms, but I typically have another infection within 1.5 weeks of ending the previous antibiotic treatment. I have received botox injections in my bladder when a urologist believed that I had overactive bladder. I have altered my diet when a different urologist believed I had interstitial cystitis. I have been told that I may have an autoimmune disease, endometriosis, multiple sclerosis, bladder cancer, lymphoma, and many other diseases throughout the past 2.5 years. I have had countless MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, scopes and 2 surgeries because of these possible diagnoses. Though I do have blood indicators for some type of autoimmune disease, all other diseases and conditions have been ruled out. I have spent over $18,000 out of pocket and have no answers as to what is causing these constant infections and I have had no real relief in over 2.5 years. I am currently 32 years old and have had to wear adult diapers at all times for the past 2 years. My anxiety and depression have become difficult to bear because of my symptoms and stress from medical debt. I am obviously desperate for help to be sharing these personal, embarrassing symptoms publicly. I hope someone can help me.
