- CASE FILE
I have a rare condition that caused a lot of anomalies at birth; webbed toes, amputated fingers & band marks that is causing me pain!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome and clubbed feet. I got my clubbed feet corrected after birth, but I’m 29 years old and the pain from the amniotic bands are still excruciating. It often feels like I’m being electrocuted/tased when I walk. The older I get, the more it’s affecting my day-to-day life, and my doctors don’t know why!
The bands caused an amputation to 4 fingers on my right hand, amputated 4 toes on my left foot (it’s webbed), and left a rubber band-looking indentation around my ankle and calf area. Doctors still aren’t sure why I experience so much pain because the condition is rare and research is limited. They only have theories, but can’t seem to put together an effective treatment plan. They’re also baffled that I’m able to stand, balance, and walk on my foot with the webbed toes and amputation. It causes me no pain, whereas the other foot with no amputations, causes me a lot of pain and is almost always swollen like a balloon!
