- CASE FILE
I have Achalasia, it’s where my lower esophageal sphincter won’t relax to pass food from my esophagus to my stomach.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Achalasia is a rare disease that I was diagnosed with after having a viral infection the fall of 2015, I was taken within weeks to have a myotomy to try and fix it (cutting the muscles) however it did not fix it and I struggle daily with trying to eat and even drink fluids at times. I’m told time after time there’s no cure as of yet and I just want to be normal and be able to eat and not get esophageal spasms everyday that make me feel like I’m having a heart attack. Again nothing can fix those so I can’t remember the last time I was able to sleep through the night without gasping to try and find relief from them.
