Menstruation issues for 10+ years- 3 surgeries, 5 specialists, 2 failed IUDS, 10+ different birth control methods. Still at square one.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I am 24 years old and have had menstrual issues for over 10 years- I’ve seen five different OBGYN specialists, two of which have heavily tried to help me with no avail. I experience heavy, painful periods and experience irregular bleeding almost everyday, even while on birth control. I have tried over six different birth control pills (mini pill, combo pill, estrogen) and different dosages and mg levels, two different iuds (both of which got embedded in the cervix and had to be removed), and depoprovera. I’ve had a cryo-freeze, electrocautery, and a D&C done with no change in my bleeding. While on the depo shot, after six months it stopped working and I was put on a combo pill, which eventually worked but I experienced heavy weight gain. From ages 15-17 I had a full menstrual period, heavy, for those two years straight- which lead to being put on depo and the combo pill. I’ve had multiple ultrasounds, all came back normal. I had blood panels done to test for issues of the thyroid and blood sugar, both came back normal. I just had a doctor tell me I am a medical anomaly. I am seeking help because this condition is expensive for one, I have to wear some sort of feminine hygiene product all the time; it is embarrassing to some extent if I want to have sexual relations with someone; among other things. Two, it is often painful (cramping). Three, it’s annoying. I want to live my life as any other person. I’m constantly taking off work or school for surgeries, procedures, testing, appointments. My doctor has told me he has no clue of where to go next.
