Being miss diagnosed over a Thyroid disorder. It almost cost me my life. Chiropractor is who ran the right blood test.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was told by regular doctor's that I didn't no longer need my thyroid medication. The normal test done to check thyroid condition was showing I was fine. I stopped taking my thyroid medication and it hit me 2 years later when I ended up in the ER thinking I had a bad case of the flu. I felt like I was freezing to death. Extremely weak from all the throwing up. I had the ER nurse running and Doctor trying to figure out what was wrong. They had never seen levels like mine and the ER nurse told me if I had waited 1 more day I would be fighting for my life because my organs were trying to shut down. They put me on the highest level of thyroid medication and told me I needed to check in with my regular doctor. My husband had caught an article in the newspaper when all this was going on and a chiropractor out of Denver CO was working on trying to help cure those with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Everything that was described in that article screamed me. So I went and saw this Chiropractor, and sure enough I had Hashimoto's. A normal thyroid blood test does not work on someone with this thyroid cancer. My own body attacks itself and when the thyroid is being attacked the worst it will show in a normal thyroid testing that your thyroid is working when actually it's not. I can not ever go without my thyroid medication. Taking the medication helps keep my own body from attacking itself and if I was to ever not take the medication my organs will shut down. I had been going to my regular doctor, they did not catch this. I did not even know I had this or that it can be passed on as well as hereditary. This form of thyroid cancer almost took my life and all because of the wrong blood test. Why did it take a chiropractor who was trying to figure out a cure for his wife who would save my life and my husband for even finding that news article. Even the ER doctor didn't run a different thyroid test, he could have killed me by putting me on such a high dosage of medication instead of starting me out with a lower dosage. If the medication is to high it can kill you and if it is to low. It's crucial to have your blood tested once a year or if you start to feel off. This Hashimoto's thyroiditis can kill someone if not having the right thyroid blood test done. It almost cost me mine.
