Severe unexplainable intestinal dysmotility. Having over 50 surgeries, cannot produce adhesions, chronic twisting stomach and intestine.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have had near 50 surgeries (the last several years I’ve had to have some type of surgery every 3 months)on my abdomen alone in the past 10 years. Started out with a Dx of “colonic interim” and had my colon removed, leaving my rectum. I had 4 emergency laparotomies in two years time for volvuluses and gastric volvulus. During the 2nd emergency surgery it was discovered that I do not produce adhesions. I was sent to Univ of Nebraska Med center nearly 500 miles away to get tested and have had my last 7 or so surgeries there. I have been admitted in that hospital alone over 15 times in the past 3 years. They said that they may never find out what it is that I have. I have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer (2013) and intestinal cancer (2018). They put in a Jpouch after I had an ileostomy for a year, that would not hold in my abdominal muscles (having had to have 3 surgeries on the ileostomy, because it kept retracting, in that year-making any future ostomies impossible). My remaining small bowel and stomach flips over 100 times a day (even having had a Gtube in my stomach for the past year and a half) and my remaining intestine twists very frequently causing me to have emergency surgery to untwist. My stomach sits in my chest and my left diaphragm remains raised and paralyzed. They have tried to tack my stomach and my intestine many times, but the lack of adhesions would not allow the tacks to work more than a day. I had a wound vac for a severe fistula from a previous surgery. I have lived in hospitals more than at home in the past 7 years. I need help and soon. I have yet to see a doctor who has not said they’ve never heard of someone not producing adhesions. I’ve had 7 knee scopes for a scope that got septic and my knee surgeon said that I did not have scar tissue. I had a thymoma removed from my chest that was pressing on my heart 10 years ago. I have been diagnosed with severe endometriosis. Last December I had to have a laparoscopy to have a large amount of fluid and dozens of peritoneal cysts removed from my pelvic cavity that was explained as coming from the severe inflammation from whatever I have wrong with my gastrointestinal tract. There is so much more.
Please help. I have run out of possibilities.
