- CASE FILE
13 years ago I was struck with a back pain and in a few hours completely paralyzed from my chest down. I was 33, healthy and a mother of 3.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I spent 6 weeks in the hospital and the drs ran every test there was to diagnose me. They diagnosed me with Transverse Myelitis, my spinal tap and all blood work was clear of any infection. I was rear ended 3 days prior to my paralysis and no neurologist back in 2006 would agree that the trauma from that car accident caused or triggered Transverse Myelitis. My lesion on my spine starts from c6-t3 and I have a few on my brain. After only being home for 13 days, I went back in and diagnosed with a large pulmonary embolism. Come to find out I have a blood clotting disorder that I was born with and have to be on blood thinners for life. I still can move my arms, thank GOD! I drive, I clean, I cook, I even started my own small photography business. I live life in a wheelchair to the fullest but I am in pain 24/7. I am begging for help. The nerve pain is horrible, I don't take any pain meds or narcotics. The only thing I ever took was lyrica which is a horrible drug. They call my transverse myelitis idiopathic, but I want to know how I got it. My vitamin D level was so low, I was breast feeding when I got sick too. I can send test results if needed, I have since been diagnosed with other diseases and disorders. I would love answers, I would love a cure for others that are being struck with this horrible painful disease. One in a million are diagnosed. 33% recover, 33% recover half way and I am in the 33% that has not recovered.
