ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
My mouth had a strange feeling inside and my throat hurt, so I went to dentist. He thought it was thrush, it was not. I went to an ENT Dr. And he told me I needed to see an oral surgeon. I went to an Oral surgeon and had a biopsy done. The diagnosis is Oral Lichen Planus. He put me on a one week pack of prednisone. It did nothing. I had huge ulcers on my inner cheeks. He then put me on a month of prednisone, it did nothing. Then he injected steroid right into the ulcer, once again nothing. I’ve tried AIP diet, it seems to help a little, it’s hard to say because I still get ulcers(flare-ups). Some days it hurts so much I can’t eat, sleep, or even hold a conversation. I stopped going to doctors because I feel like a guinea pig. My lips are in a constant state of feeling chapped to the point of cracking no matter how much lubricant I put on them. I love to cook and grocery shopping is my favorite type of shopping. Lately even going to the store is depressing for me. During a bad flare up my jaw and ear hurt.
I sell real estate and I have no motivation to do anything because of this awful condition. We travel a lot and eating out is a nightmare. Anything with pepper or seasoning sets my mouth on fire and me in tears. I’m on a Facebook page for this and there are so many of us grasping for relief from this.
