40 yr old female-severe motion sickness/car sickness and vertigo with seizures, pleurisy, nausea, dizzy for 19+ years
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Before 2000, was very active, outdoor person. Enjoyed basketball, biking, hiking, reading, going to movies, etc. No medical issues/broken bones besides getting a cold every now and then. After college, moved to Connecticut to be nanny and writer. Things going very well, then got what thought was bad cold, but being around kids all the time, didn't think much of it. Then started getting really dizzy, nauseated, and bad vertigo and throwing up. Was barely able to make it up stairs to go bathroom, was in bed for 8 days straight, able to drink, but not eat much. Got back to Pittsburgh and been living with parents ever since as symptoms get progressively worse. Now laundry list of symptoms that never go away or even ease up. Severe motion sickness with vertigo and seizures. Always dizzy with bad nausea, never hungry, always tired, have pleurisy so bad broken ribs from coughing. Fibromyalgia, autoimmune issues, possible lupus. Can't watch tv shows much or even sports-everything moves fast, can't read or work on computer-get dizzy, lose place and get headaches trying to read. Trouble writing-can't concentrate like before and can't read own writing. Head feels like it's splitting into a hundred pieces sometimes, end up in bed for days at a time, then weeks to start moving around a little with all symptoms still there. Extreme sensitivity to smell-use unscented deodorant, soap, laundry soap, etc- can't be around smells or perfumes at all. Hyperacousic-can hear better then bat but hard understanding face-to-face talk. Always cold and have the "Shakes." Found allergic to iodine during CT of brain, allergic to albuteral after prescribed inhaler. Have retrocardiac hiatial hernia, been to ER for rib pain and pleurisy, hospitalized for seizures, Take Clonazepam for seizures, zofran for nausea, benadryl for allergic reactions, vitamin D, advil for pain/headache everyday.
Many tests, many drs, many meds tried--just keep getting worse Doctors say they want to help but then end up saying lost cause and they just can't help, they don't know.
Driver's license taken away, can't do activities at all, always saying "no" to invitations because can't be out alone or at night because lights/flashing lights
Can only walk but always bumping into things--bad balance
