ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Around 4 months post party no began experiencing “pressure” headaches(feeling as though your skull is going to burst) and constantly had a tight neck. I assumed it was from sleeping awkward and not enough so I let it go on for about 2 months. Around that time I started having a horrible pain in my eyes and a constant “whooshing” noise in my ear. Again, I let it go for awhile, chalked it up to not sleeping enough and stress. Till one day I woke up and I saw 2 of everything and felt faint any way I moved. I made an appointment with my eye doctor and found out my optic nerves were swollen and bleeding. Referred to a specialist I learned I had increased cerebral spinal fluid putting pressure on my brain and optic nerves. I wasn’t given anymore information other than that and given a prescription for Lasix. Right after that I lost my insurance so I wasn’t able to go back for my check up. I finished the bottle of pills and was feeling much better. Shortly after I ran out the symptoms began to return. Once I was able to go see a family doctor I was quickly referred to a neurologist. In the beginning she said it was medication over use(Tylenol and ibuprofen) and told me don’t take any for a month and see how you feel. The next month I was sent for an MRI which was clear. 3 months of trying random meds to manage my symptoms she finally sent me for a lumbar puncture. My opening pressure was 29 and they then confirmed IIH. So far I’ve been on topomax(no response), diamox(allergic), and now Lasix again. Everyday I wake up with the whooshing in my ear, the pressure in my head, and the pain in my neck. On my bad days I can barely open my eyes because they hurt so bad. I want/need a cure. I want to be better for my children.
