My left carotid is 100% occluded as is my abdominal aorta. The doctors do not know what has caused this or how to treat it
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I am 44 years old.Doctors found a heart murmur 2 years ago and diagnosed me with severe aortic stenosis followed by open heart surgery.I required 6 bags of platelets.
While preop procedures they discovered that my left carotid is 100% occluded. They began blood testing for any and everything with multiple opinions. All they could recommend is to leave it alone. Then last November during a routine vascular follow up, the full body CT scan revealed my abdominal aorta is 100% occluded. They do not know whether to put me on blood thinners (I take low dose aspirin) or whether to operate.
Every day I wonder if I will have a stroke from the blockages or a blood clot in my legs.
I would just like someone to pinpoint why this is happening and to fix it. I believe my doctors are afraid to. My cardiologist calls me a medical mystery.
