ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I have been diagnosed with RSD around 2009 after an injury to my right knee. Tried every the doctors I was seeing offer. Was prescribed all different types of pain meds and nothing did the job it should have done. Had plica removed from knee had a Jones fracture imleft foot 5th metatarsal (is still deformed ) and was eventually sent to pain management. FLASH FORWARD. 2014 BROKE THE LEFT LEG out of nowhere, it just snapped . Both the tibia and fibula. The tibia is a nonunion. The RSD jumped limbs and now its in both my legs . I have a consistent pain level of about 8-9 and then I have these flares where the entire legs blow up the foot and ankles are effected most.the flare send my pain level off the charts 10+. These flares cause swelling discoloration , my toes and feet (especially the left) cant move , they range from purple/red to blotchy the feeling is like razor blades that were set on fire cutting through my feet. Sometimes the are so hot that I swear I'm on fire and other times they are so I've freaking cold it's like standing in a snow bank for hours in end w no socks and shoes. And NOTHING I do helps out any of these symptoms. They swell to the point you'd swear they were gonna pop. There is no ryhme or reason to it. When these "episodes" occur the last for anywhere from 3-4 day to a week or more then they'll back off a bit and within a week time it'll happen again . It's HORRENDOUS. @ pain management I tried everything on the menu and still no help. Injections , ten unit ,more pain meds etc... Eventually I was on such levels of pain meds that I was told that Suboxone would 'zero out' my system that way we could try the meds and procedures again after my body was 'zeroed out'. I was for it but that doctor never had any intention of that. I'm still on Suboxone and it's fine. I was offered a spinal cord stimulator and was approved and was hesitant because my sister had had one and the leads pulled out box needed to be replaced got an infection gain a bunch of weight and at 32 passed away of a heart attack. I have seen 8 or 9 orthopedics , an orthopedic oncologist cause a tumor ( 5in) within my humerus was seen on x ray, , breast cancer doctor for cysts in breast thus far diagnosed as FCBD, pm, podiatrist and more & have had every test known to man, I also was hospitalized for MRSA 3 TIMES and small incidents that were treated at home. inhave not had any incidents in years Which makes me extremely susceptible to infection . No solution thus far offered to me then SPINAL CORD STIMULATOR . AND IM TERRIFIED WITH MY HISTORY to go thru with it but I'm to the point that I have no other viable option and THAT'S ALL they say can be done. I have 1 child a daughter who has grown up with this situation and it breaks my heart I can't do certain things a mother should do with their child. And it seems like every doctor i see just gets to a point they don't know what to do so they pass me off to someone else . And the cycle continues. It's frustrating and defeating . There are so many things I know I'm forgetting but that's my story.
