- CASE FILE
Our 18 yr old daughter battling severe tic disorder vocal/motor , punching herself, and PANDAS streptococcus in her blood test is at 1585!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Our daughter had strep throat 5 times in one year the end of her eighth grade school year. The summer before her freshman year and a couple of weeks after her 5th diagnoses of strep throat she developed OCD (intrusive thoughts) and tics practically overnight. She immediately started to she a psychiatrist and counselor. They diagnosed her with tourette syndrome and treated her with meds. She had slowly started to decline in quality of life. None of the meds helped, and her psychiatrist had mentioned maybe having PANDAS after her blood test came back with high levels of streptococcus and copper, and told us to see another doctor that might have more knowledge in the condition.
After seeing multiple doctors and tests, no one seems to know how to treat the PANDAS. She went from a beautiful, kind, thriving varsity cheerleader.. to a unrecognizable child. She's been in and out of mental facilities because of suicidal thoughts because she doesn't want to live this way anymore. As a parent it's heartbreaking to see your child go through so much pain, and not have the answers for them. She's been bullied at school from her condition, beat up, and just feels discarded. When she started the hitting tic (punches herself in the face), that was the final straw! She doesn't have control over her own body, and she's miserable, tired, and hopeless to find treatment that will work. She's been battling this for 4 years, and I would do ANYTHING to help her get better. Please consider her case.
