Muscle wasting rapidly - extreme fatigue/spasms/twitching/numbness/tingling - helped by high doses of K and Mg. HX- Kidney Stones
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I've been suffering with heat intolerance and inability to exert myself for my entire life. It makes exercising, even low-impact, practically impossible. Also, I do not sweat. So, if I get hot, my body cannot self cool. My muscles have atrophied rapidly in the past year and I've been having spasms/tingling/numbness throughout my body and unexplained dizzy spells. I've gotten to the point where even brushing my teeth involves me sitting down and using my other arm to support the arm holding the brush. I've suffered from constipation, nausea, vomiting, stomach aches, and kidney stones throughout my life. I salt my food excessively; it never seems salty enough. My heart skips beats to the point my chest hurts and I have to pound on it to get it back in rhythm. I've been to the ER multiple times and they say I'm having an anxiety attack and that my potassium is a little low. They give me a few potassium pills and send me home. I have not history of anxiety or panic attacks. I'm a well-adjusted, 38-year-old woman. I've recently started taking magnesium and potassium supplements. They help with the irregular heartbeat and muscle issues I'm having, but I'm far from better. It's getting harder and harder to do simple daily tasks. I'm concerned I have Gitelman or Bartter Syndrome, but I can't find anyone in my area that has any knowledge of these genetic conditions.
