ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder over 5 years ago. My only medical issues prior were high cholesterol (hereditary) and a recent onset of hemiplegic migraines prior to the FND taking over my life. I’ve never suffered from a physical or psychological trauma and I’ve never had a mental illness. I’ve seen numerous neurologists who’ve insisted that a trauma or stress triggered the disorder since the tests they’ve run come back negative for any organic disease. I’ve been referred to psychologists and psychiatrists who also can’t find anything wrong. I have mobility issues and rely on a cane for short distances and wheelchair for long distances. I also suffer from non-epileptic seizures, nerve pain, stiff joints, temp paralysis, fatigue, weakness, slurred/stuttering speech, brain fog, forgetfulness, and intolerance to extreme weather temperatures and strenuous exercise. I’ve been seen at Mayo Clinic and have done physical therapy there but the good results didn’t last more than a few months. I need better and more accessible treatment in my home state of Maryland. I need to be able to take care of myself so I can take care of my children. Thank you for any advice.
