- CASE FILE
28 years old and everything hurts all the time. I feel like I’m stuck in an 80 years old body!
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was diagnosed with a rare condition called idiopathic intracranial hypertension when I was 20. Despite numerous rounds of testing we have never been able to attribute this to any cause. Starting at age 24 I have had chronic and increasing amount of pain everywhere. Ranges from daily headaches and migraines to back and pelvic pain to joint pain, even to my skin being overly sensitive to pain and feeling like I have a sunburn. I also get horribly painful electric shocks in my nerves that have happened in virtually every part of my body at some point. I have seen many different doctors in different specialities and have had my hormones tested, been checked for autoimmune problems, nerve problems, have had scans done of my brain to my pelvis, and I have been to counseling. Nobody has been able to explain the pain.
On top of the pain I have a lot of other strange but miserable symptoms including temperature sensitivity, itchy and reactive skin, nausea, dizziness, hypersensitive to any change in my environment, horrible TMJ where my jaw pops out frequently, joints that pop, weight gain including a hump on my back, low immunity, slow healing and easy bruising. I have also been told that I am anemic and have low vitamin D despite supplements. I’m only 28 and I feel like my body is falling apart. I am struggling with working and I rarely have any energy to leave the house for social events. I use to be a high achiever in school and very active and I often feel like I’m slowly losing who I am. I’m desperate for help and for answers!
