ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was a high level athlete and played soccer at the state level. I played sports year round and was an active child. At 15 I experienced a concussion in soccer where I was knocked out. I started getting pretty serious migraines and fell into a pretty bad depression. I continued playing, but would pass out mid run down the field often without notice. It kept getting worse to the point that I could no longer even run a mile without throwing up or passing out or both. My heart rate often beats high 80-100bpm when I'm not doing anything. At the same time I began having gastrointestinal issues, diarrhea and severe abdominal pain.
I left to go to college and fall quarter I contracted Mono. I got pretty sick but figured it would resolve. Then I started having severe back pain and was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. After months of tests and scans, I was diagnosed with a cryptoccocal infection in my lung. I was on a high dose of fluconazole for a year. It eventually resolved, but I still have the gastro-intestinal issues and I haven't been able to work without constantly calling in sick because I get light headed, nauseous, and feel like I can't get out of bed. I've been to countless specialists at the University of Washington Medical Center but none have been able to pinpoint exactly what is going on.
