Started with a stomach virus in 2017, woke up completely paralyzed 2 days later. Misdiagnosed and treated as Guillain Barre Syndrome.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
On October 7, 2017 I went to ER for severe abdominal pain. Was told it just a virus and was sent home. Two days later, I could no longer use my legs and I was in severe pain. I went to a different ER and was admitted. I was misdiagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome and was treated with 4 doses of IVIG (Immunoglobulin). From there, I obtained the feeling back in my legs but still have not gained full use of them. I was seeing a Neurologist whom referred me to a Rheumatologist. I was tested for multiple illnesses (Bloodwork, MRI, Spinal Tap, etc) and all results were normal. The only abnormal result repeatedly was the Sedementation Rate. It’s been over a year since I’ve had any testing done. I’m currently still suffering from extreme pain (debilitating most days), muscle/leg weakness, still unable to walk without a walker, daily headaches, numbness and tingling in my extremities, severe back and leg pain, leg muscle spasms, pain and numbness in my hands and wrists that shoots up to my arms, and a red rash that comes and goes from my cheeks. October 7th will make 2 years and I still have no answers.
