Sudden onset of symptoms after being on keto diet for 10 days, doctors can't tell me what's wrong, I think it might be metabolic acidosis?
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
This all started after being on a ketogenic diet for 10 days, I immediately stopped after tachycardia and palpitations occurred, and soon after more symptoms started appearing. I went to the ER late June for chest pain and rapid heart rate, did ekg and everything was normal. Ran a few labs, they said my TSH was high at 10. Saw an endocrinologist soon after to run more labs and thyroid levels had started to drop and stabilize on their own, they are now within normal range at 3.86. Saw a cardiologist for palpitations, did another EKG, 1 week heart monitor, a stress test, and an echo-cardiogram, and all came back normal. At the end of July my blood pressure dropped to 89/55 and cardiologist sent me to ER again. Ran all the test and said everything was normal and sent me home. My estrogen levels were checked and came back normal, my cholesterol was high, being treated with statins for that, I also have fatty liver, and I am not diabetic. Adrenal glands were checked and were normal. Only labs that came back abnormal at the end of July are the following. Anion gap of 17, Chloride Lvl 108, CO2 - 21, Calcium 10.4, AST 38, ALT 51, UA Ketones 50 (8.6 mmol/l). Could my body be in metabolic acidosis? I feel really shaky and anxious in the mornings, and as the day goes on it gets better. I can't drive because I feel disoriented and dizzy. Some days are better than others. My appetite is shot, some days I have to force myself to eat. What further tests should I get done and what kind of doctor should I see for this? Thanks
