- CASE FILE
Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) or not. The manifestation for this condition is symptomatic with much of my illness.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
In April 2016, at the age of 50, I began experiencing the above (and other) symptoms which became so severe I was unable to walk and rise from a chair without constant pain. By November 2016 I was diagnosed with PMR. I was referred to Neurology considering it might be a neurological disorder - Ruled out. I then saw an internist considering it might be auto-immune - Ruled out. I was then referred back to Neurology and my PCP because they had no idea what was going on. With a plethora of blood-work, (2) MRI's , x-rays, EMG nerve conduction study - conclusion (Normal) and other testing over a three (3) year period my symptoms persist. Bottom line; I am not getting better. I do not believe this is PMR.
I recently registered with the Mayo Clinic hoping to find answers yet my insurance is not accepted so I am considered a self pay patient for a $5,000 initial appointment fee.
Medications: Prednisone, Gabapentin, salsalate, furosemide, baclofen, diclofenac, lidocaine 5 % topical patch, oxycodone and I am still not getting better.
My new normal is pain when once upon a time I was very active. Worked more than 60 hour work-weeks, worked out 3-4 times per week, traveled. I have difficulty holding a tea cup without discomfort and pain. I have several photos of swelling, bruising, etc. if needed.
In addition to all my medical inquiries I was tested for Lupus, RA, SJOGREN SYNDROME B ANTIBODY (SS-B) - All negative.
I was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Virus August 2018 due to a weak immune system. Levels were 108 at the time of diagnosis.
I live alone, have no family support and PRAY everyday for healing. Something is wrong and it is not PMR. I know this. Please help me!
Note: I am not soliciting my condition to be a candidate for the show, I just want to get better. I want my life back.
