- CASE FILE
Esophageal spasms occurring for 12-24 hours at a time every 3-5 days after an auto accident that occurred in July 2017.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
esophageal spasms that last 12-24 hours causing 10 out of 10 pain, creating increased mucous, a snapping hiccup that is painful, increased gag reflex that creates vomitting of mucous or just a snapping gag. I noticed heightened smell, short term memory issues and vision decrease over time. I have seen GI, neurology and Epileptologist. Ruled out hyperspasmodic esophagus/Jackhammer esophagus (manometry 14,000mm/hz, but negative GERD testing), considered seizures but EEG has been normal (waiting for video EEG). Seizure meds decrease pain to 3-5 out of 10 and make episodes 8-12 hours in duration. I definitely think it's a neuro issue that hasn't been discovered. Problem began in July 2017 after hit head on steering wheel in auto accident. Unable to work now, unable to leave home most days of week.
