Lower back pain that causes body muscles to freeze up. Headaches, tingling in extremities, sweating, "band" of pain in mid-section
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
For the last 7 years I have been having these weird spasms/seizures. It starts as a dull pain in my back and then my muscles start to freeze up. I am awake during the whole episode. Sometimes I have several a night. The headaches started about 2 years ago and are getting worse. At odd times my hands and feet start to tingle, they also get really hot, to the point where I have to put ice on them. I also tend to sweat, even in a cold room. I tend to drop things, and it is getting worse. The fatigue is taking its toll on me. There are days where I'm so tired that I have trouble staying awake. There are days that I am in so much pain, not even medication can relieve it. In the last year several of my teeth have rotted out of nowhere and I now have a partial denture.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, Epstein-Barr, autoimmune thyroiditis and Bipolar disorder with anxiety and depression. My MRI, CT and EEG are all normal. My insurance has denied a CT scan of my lower back. I stay home most of the time because I'm often tired. I also get sick really easily. The Neurologist upped my pain medication and then told me he thinks it has to do with the bipolar disorder, which I take medication for and I am stable at the moment. I don't know what to think anymore.
