- CASE FILE
I am a 37 yr old female with diseases that no one understands, there is no cure, and no strict diagnosis for.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
I was diagnosed with Grave's disease at 26, but I started showing symptoms at the age of 9. (Doctor's dismissed it for years). I had radioactive iodine treatment to burn my thyroid out, which caused me to have hypothyroidism, but Grave's is still present. It is something 1% of the population has, but the majority of cases are diagnosed in the 40s. I also have idiopathic hypersomnia, hyper extended joints, and the other diseases listed above. I have been to many doctors and they have tried medications for my pain and fatigue, but my body rejects them. I had a mild seizure on Cymbalta, severe nightmares and frequent urination with Gabapentin, and opioid pain meds make me extremely nauseous and dizzy. I am fatigued 24/7. There is no relief to the fatigue and that just makes the pain worse. I have tried telling my doctors that it is from the Grave's Disease, but since no one really knows what Grave's does to the body after the thyroid is hypo, I am dismissed with my concerns. Grave's causes eye and skin problems, but not much is known or studied and the reasons why it attacks the eyes and skin are unknown and left unstudied. I am 37 and feel like I am 75. I need help and someone to actually listen because I cannot continue living like this. I have also been diagnosed with fibro, chronic fatigue syndrome, cervical myofascial chronic pain, a reverse curvature of the neck, idiopathic hypersomnia, diabetes, high blood pressure, several lower back problems, anxietyand hyper-extended joints. But nothing is being done to help me and doctors just dismiss me because I have so much wrong. They feel as long as my HA1C levels are normal with medicine and high blood pressure is under control that I am fine. I need answers because if something else is going on, no one is finding it.
