ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
My symptoms began 7-8 years ago, when I was just 23 years ago. They seemed to have been triggered after being diagnosed with Mono. The first symptom I noticed was brain fog. One day I was driving, I saw the light was red and knew I needed to stop but went right through the red light. Luckily, no accident resulted from this. That same day, I did the same thing, except with a green light, I knew the light was green but just stopped and couldn’t make my body drive for a few seconds. I went to my doctor and she immediately had a brain MRI ordered, which came back normal. Next, they decided to check me for allergies. I tested positive for seasonal allergies and pets and started treatment right away but this did not help with the brain fog. And on top of the brain fog now I was experiencing extreme fatigue. My doctor next decided to check me for adult onset ADHD, which I also tested positive for. This seemed to be a shock to the doctor but we started treatment anyway. It did help some with the brain fog but did not help with the fatigue. So now they were checking my thyroid functions, all normal except for two cysts on each lobe that they monitor every 6 months and are benign. Now 3-4 years have gone by with no answers other than allergies and ADHD. I’ve also began to experience joint pain with overall body aches so now they are testing me for Lyme’s disease, which comes back negative. At this point, I have just learned to live with these symptoms. Fast forward, to 3 years ago when I became pregnant for the first time. I actually felt the best I had in a while so my doctor thought maybe it was all a hormonal imbalance that corrected itself during pregnancy. Except all those labs were normal. A few months postpartum, all my symptoms resumed but much worse. And now the back pain I was having was unbearable. I started going to the chiropractor weekly with little relief. A year postpartum, I became pregnant with my second child, this pregnancy was much different than the first. About 2 months prior to becoming pregnant, I started with a rash around my eyes and mouth that was dry and very painful. My doctor prescribed medication for eczema that took some of the pain of the rash away but never healed it completely. I also started experiencing heart palpitations and shortness of breath. I went to a cardiologist where they did a full work up but discovered nothing other than my already known heart murmur. Once my second child was born, the back pain was even worse than before so an MRI was done and showed osteoarthritis of the facet joints in my lumbar region. I was also tested for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme disease (several more times), and other autoimmune diseases, which are all negative. I’ve also just noticed two hard lumps on the side and back of my neck. Today, we have no answers as to what is causing these issues. It’s getting very hard to function and with a 2 year old and a 1 year old at home, I want to be the best mom I can to them but I just don’t have the energy to keep up with them. I am in so much pain everyday, it’s nearly impossible to do normal daily tasks. I feel crazy and frustrated without any diagnosis’s. I don’t even want to go see any more doctors just fo he told that everything is normal, because I know this is NOT normal.
