Intersistal Cystitis also known as painful bladder syndrome is a debilitating condition that causes pain and pressure on the bladder.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
Intersistal Cystitis causes discomfort, pain and pressure on the bladder. I can't eat most foods without going into a flare up. A flare up consists of constant pain and burning of the urethra. A flare up can cause frequency and urgency. Some days consist of urinating up to 50 times a day. Most people get relief from following a diet free of citrus, coffee, and chocolate etc. This illness is more than just a diet. Even following the diet I still have constant pain. I can't enjoy my life without the constant fear of pain. It feels like my urethra is on fire 24/7. This illness can be related to hormones and often goes away during pregnancy. The first time I was diagnosed with this illness, I had UTI symptoms and was treated with an antibiotic. The symptoms still persisted and they told me I had Intersistal Cystitis. I had Intersistal Cystits for a month before getting pregnant. I went into complete remission for one year. After doing an IVF cycle, I got another UTI. I was prescribed another dose of an antibiotic and since then have had Intersistal Cystitis. I have had it for 6 months now, my life is completely upside down. I am depressed and feel as if I have no quality of life. I can't enjoy the things I once did.
