ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
About 3 yrs ago I started to swell up everywhere hands wrists lower arms ankles feet and legs. Plus a rapid weight gain of over 100lbs without any increase in calorie intake. And I have severe joint problems, since a ligament replacement surgery identified my cartilage was disintegrating at a rapid pace. My mother and grandmother had knee and hip replacement so I was told it was genetic and would need a knee replacement. I didn't have a lot of pain so I pushed the surgery off. But with the sudden onset of severe swelling and rapid weight gain, it made even the simplest of tasks extremely difficult to perform with severe pain. So I tried to get the knee replacement surgery asap, only about 40lbs into the weight gain and was told I needed to lose weight first. Which started me on a never ending journey, the more I tired the more I gained and the more pain I'm left in. It didn't make any sense and still doesn't. It's left me frustrated and confused. My drs at first just dismissed it as overeating, but we did a food journal and my caloric intake is between 1250&1400 calories daily. It was then the tireless trial and error road of treatments began. I have tried numerous meds and had countless tests but nothing. A whole Lot of guesses is what it seemed like, but not any clear diagnosis. First it was an allergic reaction to a medication, then a reaction to black mold exposure(black mold spores found in blood work) to rheumatoid arthritis, to lupus( can't find rheumatologist that will take my insurance) to hormone deficiency, to a hypothyroidism(2-tests were normal). I have had a non stress test, kidney and liver test and was told my heart, liver and kidneys are in great shape. So it wasn't those. Now I'm being told the fluid buildup is the my lymphatic system not working properly but yet there is no treatment plan to correct or even treat other then 80mg of fluid pills and Hbp medications. Ive Seen drs in Maine and now SC. But it's like no one writes anything down. I feel like they have given up, or just don't care. My most recent experience Was trying medical weight loss meds which I thought was going to be helpful seen as how i lost 37lbs of fluid in about 2 weeks, but then ot returned avengeance. My skin is now tearing open on my calf and the skin on my breast is very thin causing a burning\freezing sensation in them. They hurt to the touch or if I bump them on anything. My hands and feet are so swollen I can't make a fist or get my foot in my shoe. I can barely walk across my house or stand long enough to wash a few dishes or shower without having to sit down. I'm becoming more and more immobile. It's so embarrassing, and unless I have to, I don't leave my home. I have always been very happy go lucky, wanting to be around people, helping them, talking with them. Now I'm a recluse. I hide away not wanting to see or talk to anyone. I have pretty much given up finding any answers and become so irritated with the drs that I don't even want to go anymore. I have no energy I'm always in pain and lately I've had headaches and nausea two to three days a week. I really need someone to help me get to the bottom of this and truly find answers.
