- CASE FILE
Ive been a prisoner to my digestive system for the last 9 years. I cannot keep food and therefore can’t gain weight and I can’t enjoy life.
ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
9 years ago I had my gallbladder and 35+ stones removed but developed chronic pancreatitis due to hiding stones. I lost 50lbs that year and over time began having trouble keeping food down due to vomiting or 10 or more bouts of diarrhea after any size meals even snacks. I was diagnosed with SMA Syndrome 3 years ago but dismissed because of evidence that this was fixed shortly after my gallbladder was removed. Last year I was once again diagnosed with SMA Syndrome and had a duodenumjejunostomy and the Sphincter of Odie removed and a few days later, a partial intestinal blockage repaired. Currently my symptoms have not changed and I continue to lose weight due to excessive bouts of diarrhea after excruciating pain and bloating. I see a motility doctor and have been tested for Celiac disease, gluten and lactose issues that have all come back negative. At 5’5” 90lbs, I’m afraid that my body cannot take much more weight loss and between no food or supplements to keep the essential vitamins, minerals, etc. needed to keep me alive.
