ABOUT THIS CASE FILE
About a year and a half ago I rushed my boyfriend to the emergency room due to severe pain in his right side. He is not normally the type of guy to complain about pain, but we thought his appendix might have burst due to the severity of it. We were both attending Indiana University as undergraduates at the time. He lived a healthy lifestyle, eating well and exercising regularly. That night in the emergency room we were disappointed with the results of the CT and bloodwork, as they all came back as “normal”. But the pain never stopped. Since that day he has seen several specialists and GI doctors, all of which were saying the same thing.. “everything looks normal.” About 6 months ago he even quit his first job out of college to go to Mayo Clinic for a week, only to be diagnosed with “Chronic Pain Disorder.” At that point he became devastated. Here we are a year and a half later and he is still experiencing that same pain that caused us to rush to the emergency room. It is so hard for him, as well as his loved ones to sit idly by while he continues to suffer. He is 24, a recent college grad that is trying to kickstart his career, but this has been a major setback. I refuse to believe that this pain is just “unexplainable.” He deserves more than that and I will continue to search for someone who’s willing to take a chance on his case.
